NU Library's Guide to Printing From Your Mobile Device

Check Printer Availability -Windows

Check first to see if the HOLD-QUEUE is listed as a Destination:
  • Make sure you are connected to the campus PurpleHaze wifi network
  • Use the Destination pulldown to view all printers available
  •  Select See more... if not listed

  • If HOLD-QUEUE is in the printer list, select to add it

  • Then Print

 

One-Time Setup - Windows 11 Laptop

  • Make sure you are connected to PurpleHaze

  • In the Windows search bar, type: \\printers

    • Be sure to use 2 backslashes (\\) instead of the more common forward slash (//)

    • The backslash key is located under the backspace key on most keyboards

  • Press Enter

  • If prompted, sign in with your PurplePass username and password (include @niagara.edu after your student number)
  • Be sure to check the box, Remember my credentials, so you don’t have to login again later.

  • In the Search Printers bar that appears in the top right corner, type hold_queue

  • Press Enter or double-click HOLD-QUEUE (\PRINTERS) from the list.
  • Once the printer is installed, a new printer screen will appear.

  • Click on the Printer tab
  • Select Set As Default Printer

To adjust printing setting:

  • In the Printing Preferences window (located under Set As Default Printer):
  • Under Color Options, change the setting to Black and White or Color depending on which you wish to use
    • Please consider printing in Black and White unless absolutely necessary in order to save us on toner costs
  • Click the Finishing tab.
    • If YES: Leave the setting as is (double-sided printing is the default)
    • If NO: Change the setting to Print on one side only.
    • Please consider using double-sided as it saves paper and conserves trees

Installing Mobility Print - Windows

If the HOLD-QUEUE is not found in the printer list, install Mobility Print to add the mobile printing option to your device. Keep this page open throughout this process.

Download the Mobility Print software.

You may receive an insecure download blocked notice, click Keep.

Double Click on the Install File (usually it's located in your downloads folder). You should be prompted to allow the install. Follow the installation prompts - avoid any custom installation:

Return to the original webpage where you downloaded Mobility Print and click on Step 2. The HOLD-QUEUE should install on your device and give you this notification:

When you are ready to print, the system will prompt you to log in. Use your full email address and password. Your email should be in the format of:

s0000000@mail.niagara.edu

Your job should arrive at the printers. If you have any issues installing Mobility Print, please contact the IT Department.
