Did you know that Niagara University use to have a golf course, cemetery and lake on campus? It did until NU had to sell 200 acres of its land to the New York Power Authority for $5 million in 1958 so the the Power Project could be built.
More contentious was a dispute between New York State and the Tuscarora Indian Nation that resulted in a court allowing the Power Authority to take (upon payment of "just" compensation") Tuscarora land to build the project.
