VSJ100 Paper Topics

Remember the film clip we viewed in class about the Soviet launch of Sputnik, the first satellite? Some of the people interviewed suggested that Americans experienced panic and fear.

How did contemporary newspaper and magazine accounts depict Sputnik?  Were they expressing panic or fear? Or were they expressing other perspectives?
