The Library recently added the following recreational and educational DVDs to its collection:
RECREATIONAL
Leave it on the floor: because we all need a place to belong
Summary: In this high energy, smash hit musical, black gay teen Brad is taken in by the ragtag members of the struggling House of Eminence (led by aging ball-legend and house mother Queer Latina). Featuring music by Beyonce music director Kim Burse, and choreography by Beyonce dance master, Fran Gaston Jr., this exuberant musical directed by Sheldon Larry was inspired by Paris is Burning, and is an uplifting ode to the wild, funky and heart-aching life of this underground subculture.
Kill list
Summary: After a hit job in Kiev left him physically and mentally scarred, an ex-soldier and present contract killer is pressured by his partner into taking a new assignment. As he enters into a bizarre and disturbing world, his fear and paranoia send him toward a point of no return.
Bernie
Summary: In Carthage, TX, assistant funeral director Bernie Tiede is one of the town's most beloved residents. He sings in the church choir and is always willing to lend a helping hand. He befriends an affluent widow, and she soon becomes dependent on Bernie. Later it is reported that Marjorie Nugent has been dead for some time, and Bernie Tiede is charged with the murder.

After the wizard
Summary: After the Wizard is a heartfelt, often humorous and always entertaining story about a twelve-year-old girl named Elizabeth who lives in an orphanage in Kingman, Kansas. Like millions of girls her age she has read the beloved L. Frank Baum novel 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' countless times. But unlike other girls, Elizabeth believes she is Dorothy, and maybe she is.

The raid
Summary: A SWAT team arrives at a rundown apartment block with a mission to remove its owner, a notorious drug lord named Tama. The building has never been raided before, never been touched by police. Seen as a no-go zone, it has since become a sanctuary to killers, gangs, rapists, and thieves seeking accommodation in the one place they know they cannot be touched. Making their move in the break of dawn, the SWAT team works its way up the building under cover of silence.

Summary: A further investigation into the arrest of three teenagers convicted of killing three young boys in Arkansas who spent nearly 20 years in prison before being released after new DNA evidence indicated they may be innocent.
American experience. The Amish
Summary: Explores the insular religious community, whose intense faith and adherence to 400-year-old traditions have by turns captivated and baffled Americans for more than a century. The film examines the beliefs, lifestyle, and history of the Amish, as well as their complex relationship to mainstream American culture. The Amish is part history, part observational documentary that takes viewers into the world of the Amish.
Joffrey
Summary: Chronicles the full story of the company, from their founding in 1956 to the present. The film describes how the Joffery repeatedly resurrected itself after devastating financial and artistic setbacks and how the company introduced cutting-edge choreographers such as Twyla Tharp, Laura Dean and Margo Sappington to a larger audience. Featuring excerpts from Joffery's seminal works Astarte, Trinity and Billboards and their breakthrough collaborations.
Chimpanzee
Summary: Oscar, a baby chimpanzee, is enjoying his life with his mother in the jungles along the Ivory Coast. Without warning, young Oscar is orphaned during an attack from a rival group of chimpanzees. Afterward, he attempts to survive on his own, and to be accepted by the other chimps. Oscar struggles until he is adopted by the alpha male of his group.

Summary: The anger and outrage captured by graphic artists have defined revolutions through the centuries. Printmakers have depicted the human condition in all its glories and struggles so powerfully that perceptions, attitudes and politics have been dramatically influenced.
