Dr. Polka and Colleagues Publish Books and Chapters

Dr. Walter Polka, professor of professional programs and coordinator of NU's Ph.D. program in leadership and policy, published the 2014 book, Living on the Horns of Dilemmas: Superintendents, Politics, and Decision-Making, with Dr. Peter Litchka of Loyola University Maryland and Dr. Frank Calzi, former NU faculty. Dr. Polka and Dr. Litchka also published the 2008 book, The Dark Side of Educational Leadership: Superintendents and the Professional Victim Syndrome

Dr. Polka and Monica Jo Vanhusen, NU alumna, co-wrote the chapter, "Applying Teacher Reflection Strategies to Promote Greater Differentiation of Instruction: A Practical Research Model and Procedural Guide." It appears in the book, Reflectivity and Cultivating Student Learning: Critical Elements for Enhancing a Global Community of Learners and Educators (2014). 

Some other chapters by Dr. Polka appear in The Dark Side of Technological Innovation (2013), Leading Research in Educational Administration: A Festschrift for Wayne K. Hoy (2011), and The Purposes, Practices, and Professionalism of Teacher Reflectivity (2010).
