  • April 13, 2023

Dr. Shannon M. Risk, Associate Professor and Department Chair of History, has authored the book The Life and Times of Elizabeth Upham Yates: A Crusader for Women’s Suffrage, Temperance, and Missionary Work. The book is available from NU Library in two formats. We have a print copy, currently located in our New Book Display on the main floor, and available to check out. An ebook version is also available through EBSCOhost (PurplePass login required if off-campus).

The book covers the life of Elizabeth Upham Yates (1857–1942), a nationally known reformer in the United States in the fields of temperance, women’s suffrage, simple living, and missionary work.

There will be a book launch event on Thursday, April 20th, at 3pm in Bisgrove 350. This is an informal event that will include discussion of the book, and questions & answers. Please register if you'd like to attend.
