DreamHost Accessibility Tips 750x498

NU Library is working to ensure a usable web experience, and equal access to information, for all of our users. This includes those who have special needs and those who speak English as a second language (ESL). Over the past few months, we have implemented the following features:

  • Almost all videos on the NU Library YouTube channel have closed captions that have been manually-edited to ensure accuracy. (More accuracy than what comes from the auto-generated captions.)
  • The Library Website uses Alt text to describe images that contain information, which can be read out loud by screen reading software. This includes those images that appear as slides on our homepage.
  • Our guide to Accessible Information at NU Library lists our databases and resources that have accessibility features such as text-to-speech, language translation, and video captions.
  • We have edited our Library Website and Research Guides to meet accessibility standards for font sizes/colors, page structure, and more.

Whenever you require assistance, accommodation, or information in an accessible format, please feel free to contact the Library.
