The Road is the saga of a father and son traveling through a ravaged, post-apocalyptic United States. The sky is dark. The weather is fierce and so are the people who also travel the roads. Everything is gone. There is no food or warmth and the houses and buildings are cold and deserted.

This is a profoundly moving story of a father and son's journey through America. It shows how they are sustained by their love for one another. It also shows the tenderness that keeps them alive in the face of total devastation.

The Road is beautifully written and recommended to all. It is located in the Recreational Reading Collection on the Library's main floor. The Library also has some other books by Cormac McCarthy:

  • All the Pretty Horses (PS3563.C337 A79 1993)
  • Blood Meridian, or The Evening Redness in the West (PS3563.C337 B4 1985)
  • The Crossing (PS3563.C337 C7 1995)
  • No Country For Old Men (located in the Recreational Reading Collection)

Note: books with a call number beginning with PS are shelved on the second floor of the Library.
