I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence by Amy Sedaris |
While not for the faint of heart or easily offended, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence by comedienne Amy Sedaris is the perfect guide for planning a party, attending a party, or just getting some recipes. You will be sure to get some laughs along the way.
The title of the book comes from what is communicated by sending out party invitations. The party giver is showing that they like you by including you in the festivities. Before picking up this book, be forewarned that this is not your average cookbook. Beyond recipes, Sedaris offers helpful hints on planning for parties of different themes and different types of guests. A party for children will look nothing like a party for friends. Sedaris finds the humor in each of these audiences. Here is one of her helpful hints: If you are worried about guests looking in your medicine cabinet, just put some marbles inside. If anyone sneaks a peak, the falling marbles will easily catch the perpetrator. If you are fan of Sedaris' work or enjoyed her television series Strangers with Candy, this is one book you should definitely check out. I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence can be found in the Recreational Reading Collection on the first floor of the Library. Michael Krajewski wrote this Monthly Book Spotlight.
