During the spring semester, we are highlighting the work of four NU faculty:
Abdiweli Ali
Dr. Ali received an M.A. in Public Administration in 1999 from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a PhD from George Mason University in 2000. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Economics at Niagara University. Dr. Ali is widely published and in the last year alone has published six articles in leading economics journals.
Laurence Boxer
Dr. Boxer is Professor and past Chair of Computer and Information Sciences at Niagara University and Research Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Buffalo. He has 30 research publications in refereed journals and is coauthor of Algorithms Sequential & Parallel, an innovative highly-regarded textbook for the study of computer algorithms.
Thomas Chambers
Dr, Chambers received his PhD from the College of William and Mary and is currently Assistant Professor of History at Niagara University. A review in the journal American Studies stated that Dr. Chambers’ book, Drinking the Waters: Creating an American Leisure Class at Nineteenth Century Mineral Springs is "an interesting and thought-provoking read, and one that challenges us to think about elite American culture in the antebellum period." A review in Leisure Sciences stated that “Chambers’ thorough familiarity with the subject becomes evident early and often, fueling the story with credibility and power.”
Andrew Jenks
Dr. Jenks received his PhD from Stanford University in 2002 and is currently Assistant Professor of History at Niagara University. His book, Russia in a Box: Art and Identity in an Age of Revolution, was published by the University of Northern Illinois Press in 2005. In a review of the book, The Times Literary Supplement stated that Dr. Jenks describes his subject with “cogency, intelligence, and humor” and that his “beautifully illustrated book has significant things to say about the functioning of Soviet nationalism.” Dr. Jenks is currently researching the life and times of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin to write a political and cultural history of the post-Stalin era.
